Economists said if Washington wanted to help jumpstart our nation's economy it needed to act fast.  That's exactly what we did.  Congress acted in strong bipartisan fashion to pass an economic stimulus plan that will be signed into law by President Bush today.

Madam Speaker,

Last week Congressional Republicans refused to join us in supporting energy legislation that will provide real relief to American consumers.  Instead, Republicans once again showed that they have no problem doing the bidding of both Big Oil and the utility companies.  For too long Washington has dragged its feet, denying that there was actually an energy problem.
