Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Albio Sires (D-NJ) and Congressman Francis Rooney (R-FL), the Chairman and Ranking Member respectively of the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, Civilian Security, and Trade, released the following statement congratulating the Bolivian people for successfully holding peaceful and democratic elections on October 18th and urging President-Elect Arce to pursue strong and cooperative relations with the United States:

Sires and Rooney. “A transparent and peaceful election process delivered a result that all parties were willing to accept. We congratulate Bolivia’s President-Elect, Luis Arce, and hope this election ushers in a new era for U.S.-Bolivian relations in which our countries can once again work together to advance our shared interests and promote prosperity, democracy, and human rights for the Bolivian people.”
