Congressman Sires Helps with Testing in West New York
(West New York, NJ) – Today, Congressman Albio Sires (D-NJ) assisted the Hudson County Board of Health, West New York Housing Authority employees, along with the Mayor and Commissioners of the town as they kicked off an initiative to test residents of senior living facilities in West New York, New Jersey. Over the next 7-10 days all residents of the town’s senior buildings and low-income housing facilities will be offered a COVID-19 test.
“Today, I helped provide support for the health care workers and volunteers that are testing West New York’s senior and low-income populations,” said Rep. Sires. “These dedicated workers conducted 260 tests today and will do many more in the days to come. However, they need more funding and more support if we want to achieve universal testing which is why I supported the Heroes Act, with its increased funding for testing and contact tracing. Without volunteers and the assistance of building staff, they would not have been able to conduct as many tests because they would have to organize equipment, conduct the tests, and take detailed notes. I was happy to assist in any small way I could, and I want to thank them for their dedicated service to the residents of West New York.”
