Recovery projects will create jobs and promote alternate forms of transportation

Washington, D.C.  Today, Congressman Albio Sires announced funding for transportation enhancement projects funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  Transportation enhancement projects foster more livable communities by enhancing travel options, creating safer routes, preserving and protecting environmental and cultural resources, and promoting alternative forms of transportations.

The following projects were selected by the New Jersey Department of Transportation to receive funding:

  • $1,000,000 for construction of the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway & Park at Morris Canal Little Basin
  • $1,000,000 for the Middlesex Greenway – Bikeways
  • $2,000,000 for the construction of the Broad Street Streetscape
  • $500,000 for the Elizabeth Avenue Streetscape Enhancement Project
“These projects will go a long way towards improving our communities – making them safer, easier to traverse, and promoting more economic development,” said Congressman Sires.  “The construction of the projects will create good paying jobs in the 13th District.”
