U.S. Small Business Administration Reopens Application Period for Superstorm Sandy Victims Seeking Financial Assistance
Did you know that victims of Superstorm Sandy who need more cash to rebuild their home or business can now apply for a low-interest disaster loan? Due to a recently passed law, which was passed unanimously by Congress, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has reopened the application period for Superstorm Sandy victims seeking financial assistance. Homeowners can receive loans of up to $200,000 to repair or rebuild their homes, and as much as $40,000 more to replace damaged or lost items. Nonprofit organizations and business owners can get up to $2 million to repair or replace assets. The filing deadline to submit applications is December 1, 2016.
Applications are available online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. Additional details on the locations of recovery centers and the loan application process can be obtained by calling the SBA Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or by sending an email to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
Victims may also visit a New Jersey SBA center to apply for SBA low-interest disaster loan. No appointment is necessary.
